Bert is a happy-go-lucky person, who tries to find the best in any situation. He’s nearly always hyper and isn’t one to shy away from meeting new people. Bert loves making people laugh, as it makes him feel happy, he can normally make people laugh by telling then a stupid cheesy joke. Bert is always up for an adventure and loves the thrill of nearly getting caught. Bert rarely gets annoyed with people, mostly because he is the one annoying them.

Bert isn’t a popular person but nor is he a social recluse. He loves his friends, who are more of a family to him. He’s someone you can always depend on and isn’t one to lie to you. Bert loves school, and though he’s not top of his class or year, he isn’t dumb either. He’s always up for a good laugh but is able to take things seriously as well.

detailed history

Bert is the only boy out of his three sibling’s so his father Fyodor, wanted Bert to be a proper boy, and watch the football with him and things like that. Bert didn’t like football, and isn’t very sporty, so his father would lash out at him and get angry at the whole family. Bert would often try and find interest in the sports that his father watched and took part in but his attention span for them wasn#t very long and it only ended up angering his father even more.
His sister’s thought that it was his fault that their father always got so angry and they started to ignore him and resent him. Even Bert’s mother started to ignore him in case of angering his father even more. Growing up, Bert found that the early years of his life were spent without his parents there. Accomplishments that he had made in school didn’t seem to matter to them. Bert tried to take part in school sports days to make his father proud but he never did well in them.
Bert’s father wasn’t happy with his eldest daughter being a witch, so when Bert got his letter. Fyodor couldn’t even bear to look at his son. Bert found this slightly unfair because even though his father didn’t like the idea of witches and wizards he accepted his daughter’s just fine. Bert was over the moon when he wasn’t sorted into the same house as his older sister, and even happier when he found out that his two younger sisters weren’t sorted into the same house as him. Bert made friends with people quite easily in his first year and treated them more like family as he felt more close to them, than he did his family! After his first year, in the summer his father had started to hit him. It got to the point that Bert ended up in hospital.
Bert soon found a love for the Wizarding game Gobstones and found out that it was a niche of his, he started to play more and more often though it wasn’t a very popular game. He attempted to get people involved but very few people were ever interested in the game. He’s currently in the sixth year and cannot wait until his older sister leaves the school so that he doesn’t have to put up his her constant glare.

Speckles had entered the hall before Bert, hopping in with his bow-tie and top hat. He had come as a human for the Ball, and was working the costume pretty well.
Bert entered after him, he was wearing a pumpkin costume, the trim of his kilt showing at the bottom.
He stood in the doorway of the Hall grinning, he watched as people walked on by with their costumes.

Speckled hopped onto Bert's shoulder, as Bert walked into the Hall. His eyes were alight like a child open presents' on Christmas day. He loved a good Halloween Ball, he always made his own costumes, though some of them in the past didn't turn out so well.
For example, when he tried to come as a vampire with the fake teeth, his gums ended up bleeding.
This time he had a more (or what Bert thought was) conventional costume.
As he walked around, Bert had managed to bump into several people. He said sorry, though some of them glared at him, some of them smiled at him.
Bert knew that he and Speckles were the envy of all the Ball.
