Regulus strives to follow in the footsteps of his parents and thus his family name. The Blacks have a long history of supporting the Dark Arts and pureblood supremacy, managing to rally their support by the physical manifestation of their beliefs, Lord Voldemort. From all of this, Reg is very aware of who he talks to and why, muggles have no business being at Hogwarts in his opinion and he doesn't let them forget it. He takes comfort in hanging out with other like minded wizards and witches, not necessarily in Slytherin. However, given his parents views on Gryffindor, he is likely to be equally cold when it comes to first introductions.

Regulus is very academically motivated and rather intelligent for his age and thus can often spend a lot of time in the library staying on top of his workload and reading around whatever interests him. But beyond that, as a member of the house Quidditch team, he embraces his social status amongst his fellow Slytherins. In short, yes, he is a jerk to many and only a friend to few. But in that few lies a side to Regulus that he denies exists, very much brought out by Sirius but frowned upon by his parents.

detailed history

Regulus was born into the Black family in 1961, the youngest addition to the family behind his older brother Sirius. Wealth and power were central to their family beliefs and Regulus strived to uphold them. Unlike his brother who from an early age, rejected his association to the Black family with his proud sorting into Gryffindor. Regulus idolised Lord Voldemort from an early age, under the guidance of his parents. Whilst they themselves were not Death Eaters, they often admired the practises of the Dark Lord and saw their extended family joining him without hesitation, something they approved of.

Regulus was surrounded by evil in his younger life, related to Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy meant that discussions of dark powers and unexplained events whilst laughing at the failed attempts of the Daily Prophet and the Ministry to pin down what was really going on. Regulus plastered his room with newspaper articles and photos of Death Eater activities and the dark mark in particular – all surrounding a painting of the black family crest. His parents were very proud of him.

At the age of Sixteen, this summer just passed, Sirius left the black family with explosive consequences. His parents were furious, outraged at how he had rejected such a prestigious upbringing. Cursing his very name and scorching him from the Black family tree. Regulus was personally distraught by his brothers departure, Sirius was the only change in tone to the Black family, adding a layer of fun, joking around and general light heartedness which he enjoyed sharing in on occasion. But for the sake of his parents, he remained the doting son to be the perfect resemblance of what the family stood for.

Upon attending Hogwarts, he was quickly scooped up by Professor Slughorn into the Slug Club. His surname informing many of his lifestyle and beliefs before he even opened his mouth. The prestige his surname afforded him was quickly capitalised on by Regulus, being sorted into Slytherin added to his parents affection for him as their first child to be placed into the family house. Despite still being at Hogwarts, Regulus is reluctant to socialise with Sirius in case his parents hear back rumours and gossip. Right now, he's just entering his fifth year having just lost his brother from the family home, stressed out trying to keep his parents pleased and trying to stay ontop of his workload whilst dispelling any doubt that he will follow in the footsteps of Sirius.
