As a start to the year went, Tyson imagined his final year at Hogwarts easily took the cake. A few weeks in and he had already been run ragged at Quidditch, swamped under more textbooks than he could carry and sucked of all his viable free time. He just wanted to shut down for a week, literally just crawl into bed with a warm drink and not be disturbed until he felt like he’d recovered enough to carry on. Although he knew such respite wouldn’t come until half term at the earliest. Until then, he had to make the most of his nights.
He had snuck out of the common room and was already making his way up the few remaining flights of stairs to the astronomy tower. As much as he might moan to his fellow Ravenclaws about the huge climb from the great hall back to the common room, they were the closest house to the astronomy tower. Even if it were a more complicated route of coming down the stairs of the Ravenclaw tower before going up the stairs of the astronomy tower, he was sure he’d arrive with more air in his lungs than anyone from the other houses.
Tyson discovered the wonders of the tower in his early years of Hogwarts. First year astronomy lessons were nothing to write home about but the fact they could take place in the middle of the night under a cloudless sky captured Tyson’s imagination. He figured that his awe of the night’s sky was linked to his fascination with Quidditch – he loved things high up and out of reach. Or was it just the same fascination everyone could often have, wondering about the great beyond? He got to the top of the stairs and peered inside. He had checked earlier today, the tower should be empty all night. No point in making the long climb to find out a class made you waste the effort of coming up here.
He walked inside to find it a bit chilly, what was he expecting? Summer was long gone with the bitter nip of winter on the horizon, Tyson was glad he had thrown a jumper on. He lit a solitary candle amongst the many unlit ones in the room and wander to the railing by the arched windows. Looking out over the grounds he could make out the faint blur of the Quidditch pitch in the distance, but the more dynamic sight was the forbidden forest being batter by the autumn breeze. Tyson had never gone near the thing. Not even the usual first year dares got to him – he was just too scared. Same goes for the black lake, it was a beautiful sight and he had spent many an afternoon on its shores but he would never go for a swim, let alone dip his feet in it! It was times like this that got you thinking about how a truly magical a place Hogwarts was.
OOC: Tyson is expecting a nice Zara - how wrong he will be!
