Ah... The return of the school year. There was nothing that could compare to being back at Hogwarts. This place had become her second home. A place to escape all the pressures of reality that she had to deal with back at home in the muggle world. Although her problems were mainly wizarding base rather then muggle based. The first pressure being an heir to a vast amount of wizarding coin. Nataliah would have surely thought that both her maternal and paternal grandparents would have squandered off the fortunes rather then leave it to her. After all, she was deemed to be an illegitimate grandchild to the two warring families. Surely she would have thought that her birthparents would have married off to others and produced worthy grandchildren. But alas, that was not the case. After having her two hour long meeting with wizarding attorneys, she had learned that both of her birthparents had shorted died after several months after they had given her up. Something about an accidental curse or hex gone array. Well, not that it had really mattered to Nataliah since the two had decided to abandoned her anyhow. Oh how she could remember that day clearly.
It had been a Saturday morning and Nataliah had just finished adding another touch to her bedroom walls. It was almost a tradition to her to add something new to her bedroom walls during school vacation. This time she had added various photos taken from several trips taken with her adoptive family to various cities in England. Having stepped back to examine her work, she had heard her adoptive mother call for her. As she left the comfort of her room to seek out her adoptive mother, Nataliah was surprised to see two people she had never seen before in the kitchen along with her adoptive parents. As her adoptive father beckoned her forward to join them, Nataliah had had an unsettling feeling in her stomach. Having listen to the two strangers speak of her birth family, Nataliah had to resist the feeling of nausea that was coursing through her body. At first she had sincerely had believed that these two strangers were phony, however when she had witnessed the magic possessed within her blood that opened the will of both her maternal and paternal grandparents, she could no longer fake her interest. To learned that she had come into inheritance by default was not how she had pictured getting back with her birth family again. It all was a shock not only to her, but her adoptive parents and family as well. Much more then the day that she had been told that she was a witch and that she would be attending Hogwarts.
So that was the first of several reality checks she had experienced this past summer. The second being that her eldest adoptive brother was now engaged to his university sweetheart. She would have never pegged him as one to settle down so soon. That too had been an interesting conversation at the dinner table one night. It just came out randomly from her brother's mouth stunning everyone into silence. "Oh yeah, by the way Mother, Father I am engaged to my university sweetheart and we are getting married next May." Yeah, that had set both parents into the million questions game with him. Boy was that pure entertainment for herself and her other adoptive brother and sister. Lets see what else happened this past summer? Oh, her application for changing her surname legally from Argeneau to Reeves was certainly packed away in her Hogwarts truck up in her dorm room. She had yet to mention that little tidbit to her adoptive family. Everything had been filled out and had only required her signature to make the document legal in both wizarding and muggle view. However, she was holding back on signing it. She just wasn't ready yet as odd as that appeared to be.
Anyhow, she would worry about her reality later. Right now she enjoying the company of the plants in one of the Herbology greenhouses. It was peaceful and soothing. Not to mention, Herbology had become Nataliah's favorite subject at Hogwarts. It was just so easy for her to lose herself as she worked in the dirt and with the various plants. She did not have to worry about what was due or what she had to finished. It was just her, the dirt, the plants, and beauty of the nature that surrounded her. Laying upon the ground of the greenhouse, her bright eyes lingered upon the various leaves of the magical plants that surrounded her. Naming off their names and magical properties in her head as she allowed herself to relax and be one with the nature that had surrounded her on all four sides. Sure, she was sure that a few people would give her odd looks, but she did not care for their opinions. Let them talk. She knew what was the truth and that was all that mattered to her in the end.
