Jessie was excited. How could she not be? She was waiting outside the door of an empty classroom for Professor Graystone. Now given her reputation, many students, and probably a few teachers, most likely thought the worst about her and Professor Graystone meeting after classes, but it really was for academic reasons. Since Defense Against the Dark Arts was one of her favorite classes, Jessie usually found herself actually reading ahead in that class and doing homework long before it was actually due. This did however present one problem, she was bored a lot in class, and when she got bored, she tended to stop paying attention and generally cause disruptions.
On a whim, jessie had approached the Professor after class one day, after he had yelled at her to stop goofing around of course, and asked if there was anything else she could work on, or extra lessons. Had the thought to flirt with him crossed Jessie’s mind? Sure, of course it had. Didn’t take a genius to see the man was lovely to look at. Transfigurations may come naturally to her, but DADA was where her heart really lay because that was where she could learn how to protect people from the darkness in the world. So here she stood, rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet, holding onto the hilt of her polished black, finger twisted wand as she waited for Professor Graystone to show up. He said it would be exciting and most likely a challenge for her, and that’s what Jessie was looking for. She heard footsteps behind her and whirled around with a grin on her face.
”I’m ready if you are Professor,” she said with a smile and a wink; perhaps not the best road to take, but he was cute, she couldn’t help adding in the wink.

Noah felt tired, unusually tired. Perhaps it was because she spent half the night up setting up an empty classroom for an advanced defense against the dark arts lesson, or perhaps it was because he spent the other half reading about vampires. Either way he was tired nonetheless and the lack of sleep had left dark shadows under his bright blue eyes. Overall he looked more like he had just woken up than ever before, his hair slightly stained with ink and some strange purple fluid, that same purple fluid staining his hands and the same outfit he had been seen in yesterday.
With a loud yawn he stumbled through the corridors getting lost twice before finally finding his way to the classroom of doom. He knew she was there before he could see her, and suddenly he became conscious of the stains all over his wrinkled cream long sleeved shirt, on his dark brown tweed jacket and the fact that one of his black bracers hung unfastened. Somehow he felt he had let himself down this time, his appearance was always a little disorganized but this just looked like he had been mauled by a drunk southern flying stinker. There was no helping it, with the bracer done up and at least the top four buttons of his shirt undone to hide the fact that he had lost his tie he approached her.
Jessica Jameson was one of the best in her class, she always got almost top scores in her tests so Noah knew she studied hard. However in the classes she acted up and interrupted which frustrated Noah, he knew she had brains but she just used then in the wrong ways. Other than that she was an interesting girl and Noah liked being around her, she made things fun though he had to be careful how close he got to her. He was young after all and being a young professor he had to be aware of his impact on the young ladies and their affect of himself.
Her wink made him slightly unsettled though he didn't show it. Instead he smiled running a hand through his tangled wild hair, "sure am" he answered tapping the door with his wand unlocking it. "Ladies first" he said keeping his face neutral though wicked excitement bubbled inside. The room was filled with traps, first layer you had to repel and defeat dueling machines, second layer answer a quiz that hexed you at each wrong answer or extra minute to grow facial hair and finally three boggarts all in hidden locations.
If she was truly as gifted as she seemed to be in theory during class then she would easily ace everything inside.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Jessie gave her wand a flippant twirl while she smirked before becoming slightly more serious and walking through the doorway. Four years of magical training came down to this, well sort of, but so far this was the highlight and top of what she had been allowed to do thus far. Jess gripped her wand just a tad tighter as she made her way further into the room. She knew you didn’t want to hold it too tight because then all your muscles would be flexed and they reacted slower that way, but she also didn’t want to go throwing her wand about either. Her steps were cautious, yet bold at the same time. Her eyes scanned everything they could, which was a challenge since it was a tad dim for the moment.
A sudden jolt of light flew at her indicating a spell had been cast, and she just managed to dodge it, throwing herself to the side. Even while she was moving out of the way, she twisted around and sent a stunning spell in the direction of the first spell. She saw the spell hit the dueling machine, freezing it for a moment. She then sent a second spell at it to shatter it, when another spell almost hit her in the hand but made her miss the first machine. She barely kept hold of her wand and managed to fire a body bonding spell at the second machine. It fell over as she sent the red spell indicative of the disarming spell at the first machine to attack her. This was quickly followed by her bellowing out Lumos maximus to send a ball of light over her head. Now she could see the third one and another body binding spell put it on the ground. She lowered her wand and looked around her slowly, making sure she got them all. She put a limb locking spell on the first machine since it was still lose before moving on down the path that had been made.
As she rounded a corner a voice boomed out to her. ”What! Is your favorite color?”
”What? What’s that suppose ta mean?” She called out to the dimness. She was met not with an answer but with some sort of spell hitting her. It knocked her to her knees for a moment, but she was soon back up on them, but something was tickling her upper lip. She touched it and found hair had grown there. Jessie rolled her eyes and called out over her shoulder. ”Very funny Mr. Greystone.” The booming voice cut her off.
”How does one escape from a Grindylow?”
”Break every little finger it has so it can’t hold ya no more, or hit it with a revulsion jinx if it’s underwater and scald the little bugger,” the girl said with confidence. Since nothing hit her, she assumed she had gotten it right.
”How does one repel a Dementor, and what is the incantation?”
”With the Patronus Charm and the incantation is Expecto Patronum”
Five more questions later and a door slid open at the far end of what turned out to be a chamber. The mustache vanished as well as Jessie stepped into the next area. This one was deadly silent, enough so that Jessie could hear her own breathing. She pulled her wand out again, holding it at the ready. As she rounded a corner what she saw made her stop in her tracks. She saw her brother, Jay, sitting, tied to a chair in the middle of a room lit with a cold white bulb hanging from overhead. There was blood on the ground and his face was bruised and cut. She rushed forward but was suddenly grabbed by strong arms from behind, pinning her own arms to her side.
”Jay! Jay!” She yelled to him, struggling to get away. He looked up at her out of the one eye that wasn’t swollen shut.
”I’m sorry Jess. They got the drop on me this time.” As he finished speaking a second man stepped out of the shadows, a miniature, limp bat in his hands. As the man walked over to Jay, Jessie knew what was about to happen.
”No! Don’t! He ain’t done nothin’! Let him go!” Her cries fell on deaf ears as the limp, leather bat thwacked into Jay’s stomach and the young man doubled over as best he could. Jessie slammed her head into the face of whoever was holding her and ran forward when they let go, but she didn’t get far as she was hit with a body binding curse and crashed to the floor, falling at an angle that forced her to look at her brother.

Noah smiled back waving farewell to her as she departed, "Have fun" he said before apparating into the classroom hiding in the section for questions. The test was difficult, the average seventh year would have trouble with it but Jessie was no average student and she was especially not an average sixth year. Grabbing his cup of coffee that he had left there only twenty minutes ago, heating it with magic, he made himself comfortable as she entered the first stage.
First was the dueling machines, annoying things set to a seventh year level though apparently still to easy for Jessie. As she battled through Noah found himself both disappointed and in awe, disappointed that she got through without dropped her wand or breaking a sweat and in awe that she managed to get through it without being properly hit by something. The last student he had sent through this intricate trap of machines, spells and mystics they came out with a broken wand and a beard as long and grey as the headmasters'. No student had asked to be put through his special tests since then, until Jessie asked him so nicely, possibly fully aware of his victims and the fact that only one other student had triumphed through it's traps.
Along she went Noah now watching her with fascination, some students stumbled at this part, yes they were brilliant at fighting but when it came to theory they sucked. Jessie despite the fact that she rarely paid attention in class always got top marks in her theory so he wasn't at all concerned about her fate in this test. He was just interested to see how she would react to the trick question, which when answered he took the utmost pleasure at hurling the mustache curse at her. He almost blew his cover at this stage as he held his sides with one arms and slapped his free hand over his mouth to prevent himself from laughing out loud. For a student like Jessie, an obvious flirt but skilled at almost everything Noah couldn't help but have fun with her. The mustache curse was just the icing on the cake and as she wandered through answering the other questions, he was almost saddened that he couldn't do it again.
Then came the boggart, or to be exact, boggarts. There were seven boggarts in this section all positioned to react all at the same time. Not exactly a kind thing to do but it was a great enough challenge that would even make a skilled wizard like himself break a small sweat. What are you afraid of? he thought to himself leaning forward watching as she stepped into the sweet spot. However there was only horror.
He seemed to move in slow motion compared to the boggarts all feeding on her fear working together to play out the scene that terrified her the most. She fell to the ground and finally he reached her his own heart thundering at the sight of such a scene, "close your eyes" he commanded to her looking at the boggarts expecting them to change to his fear, but they did not. They were enjoying this, her fear, it was lovely.
"I SAID STOP" he yelled his eyes glowing for a moment gold in the gloom, this gold extending over his entire body making him shimmer as pure will magic exploded from his body shunning the creatures back to their boxes. And the area was quiet again, no Jay, no blood and no man. Just Noah and Jessie lying on the floor, Noah holding Jessie tightly panting with exhaustion.
